The analysis is based both on the study of the regularities of changes of temperature in the space, and on the directly evaluation of maturity of organic matter (HC) in the rock. As a result of the studies carried out, the low hydrocarbon potential of the Lower Pliocene sediments (PS-RS) and the epigenetic nature of the main hydrocarbon resources of the South Caspian Basin are confirmed. Two temperature zones are distinguished within the Absheron-Pribalkhan zone, the boundary between which passes along the supposed deep break fault between the structures of Neft-Dashlary and Gunashly. In accordance with the revealed zonality in the NW of the part of the zone, the upper threshold for the beginning of oil generation is timed to a depth of approximately 2.8 km and in SE it is submerged to a depth of approximately 4.5 km. On the whole, the organic matter of the Lower-Pliocene rocks within the Absheron-Pribalkhan zone, in the considered depth interval, is characterized by low maturity and is below the "oil window".</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Целью работы является анализ углеводородного потенциала - ключевого инструмента определения промышленных перспектив региона, месторождений и используемых технологий. В работе проводится анализ углеводородного (УВ) потенциала нижнеплиоценовых отложений (продуктивная толща - ПТ, в Азербайджанском секторе и красноцветная толща - КТ, в Туркменском секторе) и температурных условий его реализации в пределах Абшерон-Прибалханской зоны поднятий. Выполненный анализ основывается как на исследовании закономерности изменения в пространстве температур, так и на непосредственной оценке степени зрелости заключенного в породах органического вещества (ОВ). В результате проведенных исследований подтверждены: низкий УВ потенциал нижнеплиоценовых отложений (ПТ - КТ) и эпигенетичная природа сосредоточенных здесь основных УВ ресурсов Южно-Каспийского бассейна. В пределах Абшерон-Прибалханской зоны выделены две температурные зоны, граница между которыми проходит по предполагаемому глубинному разлому между структурами Нефт Дашлары и Гюнешли. Выводы. В соответствии с выявленной зональностью в СЗ части зоны верхний порог начала генерации нефти приурочивается к глубине примерно 2,8 км, а в ЮВ погружается на глубину примерно 4,5 км.
