Профессор К. Дребенштедт является известным ученым в области открытых работ.

Его научная деятельность охватывает широкий круг вопросов, связанных с созданием технологических горно-транспортных комплексов, рациональным природопользованием и охраной окружающей среды, санацией и восстановлением нарушенных горными работами территорий, компьютерным моделированием и планированием горных работ.

Под его руководством реализовано десятки научных и образовательных проектов на международном уровне.

Карстен Дребенштедт являлся приглашенным профессором и профессором Казахского национального технического университета, Политехнического университета Намибии, Уральского государственного горного университета.

Почетный доктор Московского государственного горного университета (С 2014 г. вошел в состав НИТУ «МИСиС»).

Координатор проектов:

  •  Академическое горное образование в Афганистане (GIZ / DAAD);
  •  Германо-Монгольский университет для направления Горное дело и технологии (GMIT) (DAAD).

Проводит активную работу в академических и профессиональных национальных и международных сообществах.

Член международного общества профессоров горного дела - Society of Mining Professors (SOMP).

Автор более 300 публикаций, в том числе 14 монографий и учебников, 11 патентов, почетный доктор 6 зарубежных университетов, победитель конкурса грантов НИТУ «МИСиС». Профессор К. Дребенштедт является выпускником Московского горного института.
