Research activities:

Vladimir Klishin distinctly focuses his research activities at innovation, with patenting and implementation of the results: he has put forward and justified a brand-new and no-analogue method and practice of directional hydraulic fracturing for hard main roof rocks in development headings and longwalls. This method is widely introduced in coal mines in Kuzbass. In furtherance of the studies, the method and facilities are proposed for multi-stage hydraulic fracturing of coal seams toward gas drainage stimulation. For gas drainage, exploration and process drilling, Vladimir Klishin has supervised engineering and manufacture of unique drilling rig models SBR-400 and SBR-300, which feature much higher drilling depth and penetration rate in hard rocks as compared with analogues machines.

Recently Professor V. Klishin engages himself with a brand-new approach to the Longwall Top Coal Caving technology with adjustable discharge of loosened coal in thick gently dipping and steeply pitching seams, which offers new design capabilities for powered roof support. Within this R&D project framework, many state macro contracts with the Federal Agency for Science and Innovation (RosNauka) and with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, as well as numerous economic agreements with mining companies in Kuzbass are performed. Pursuing the R&D project implementation, a coal mining machine building cluster is created within the frame of the Research and Academic Centre Kuzbass.

Vladimir Klishin superintended the analyses and systematization of engineering solutions on open pit-to-underground mining transition at diamond-bearing kimberlite pipes of ALROSA. The research findings made the framework for planning and design of the world’s first underground diamond placer mine Solur–Vostochny.

Klishin’s research activities are recognized and acknowledged by Russian and foreign practitioners in mining. He participated in many R&D projects abroad and contributed to organization of large international conferences. His bio is included in the Encyclopedia of Russia’s Geologists and Mining Engineers and in 2006 Who’s Who in the World.
